やりくり【遣り繰り】

making do; tiding over; management; manipulation; a makeshift.

～する manage 《with [without]…》; make shift 《with…》; make do 《with [on]…》; contrive 《to do》; scratch along.

●うまくやりくりする manage well

・時間をやりくりする make time 《to do》; manage to find time 《to do》

・なんとか時間をやりくりして代わりに行ってくれ. I want you to make time to go for me [in my place].

・どうにか仕事をやりくりして友人の結婚式に駆けつけた. I managed to arrange things at work so I could make it to my friend's wedding.

・乏しい予算をやりくりする manage on [make do with] a small budget

・わずかな小遣いをやりくりして念願のカメラを買った. I made shift with the small allowance I received and bought the camera I had wanted for so long.

・わずかな貯金をやりくりして数か月食いつないだ. I managed to keep myself fed for several months by stretching out my meager savings.
